Privacy Policy

EFFECTIVE SEPTEMBER 11, 2026

Vinyl Player has no accounts, no analytics and no servers of its own. It is a listening room, not a service. This page sets out exactly what the app touches, on iPhone, Mac and Apple Watch, and why.

What the app reads

• What's playing. The track, artist and album from Apple Music, so the room can show the record that's on. On the Mac this can also come from the Spotify desktop app, read locally from its playback notifications.
• Album artwork and tracklists. Fetched from Apple's MusicKit catalog to draw the sleeve, press the record and show the sides. These requests go directly to Apple. They are not proxied through us and we never see them.
• Apple Music access. On iPhone the app asks for permission to use Apple Music so it can put a record on and show what's playing. You can grant or revoke this in Settings at any time. Without it the app still works as a wall for your collection.

Your collection

The records you hang on the wall, the shelves you name, your play counts and your pressings are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, the same data syncs between your iPhone and Mac through your own private iCloud database. Apple hosts it; we cannot read it, and it is not shared with anyone else. Turning off iCloud for Vinyl Player in your device settings keeps everything local.

Apple Watch, Lock Screen and Dynamic Island

The Watch app and the Live Activity receive what's on the platter from your iPhone over Apple's own device-to-device connection so they can show the record and control playback. Nothing in this path leaves your devices.

What we do not do

• No personal information is collected: no name, email or account.
• No usage analytics, telemetry or crash reporting to us.
• No listening history is recorded anywhere other than the play counts on your own wall.
• No advertising, no trackers, no third-party SDKs.
• No selling or sharing of data, because there is none to sell.

Network requests

The only network requests the app makes are to Apple: the MusicKit catalog for artwork and tracklists, Apple Music for playback, and iCloud for your own sync. There are no other endpoints.

Children

Vinyl Player is not directed at children under 13 and collects no information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date.
